The following are summaries and compilations of a variety of statistical information about the University that can be downloaded or printed for reference.

Fact Books

The Fact Book is an annual publication containing current facts and figures about all major areas of the University, including student enrollments, faculty/staff characteristics, fiscal and capital resources, and instructional and research productivity. Prior year Fact Books are available from 1986-87 through 2007-08, and may be downloaded in pdf format.

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) requires the annual reporting of data from universities nationwide. The NCES gathers and disseminates these data using the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), a web-based data collection tool. To comply with NCES requirements, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill reports data in the fall, winter, and spring of each year.

Common Data Set

The Common Data Set is a compilation of most frequently requested statistics and other descriptive information concerning students, faculty, instructional programs, and student services available at UNC-Chapel Hill. It is a primary source of information for college guidebooks as well as individual prospective students who wish to learn more about educational opportunities at Carolina.
